As the world's population has quickly increased from 2 billion in 1930 to 6.7 billion today, essential resources are stretched thin, the environment feels the increased pressure and the world economy reacts. Unfortunately, increased population has led to increased demand for oil at the same time that the dollar has depreciated. Attempts to employ alternative forms of energy, like biofuels, have caused a major hike in food prices around the world.

This GOOD magazine animation clearly explains this global predicament with alarming statistics and a sense of urgency that many around the world are feeling today.
